Film Competition 2017/18

In 2016 we held our first student film competition, last year the film competition was themed ‘Fundamental British Values’, which culminated in an Awards Ceremony at the Annual Conference in March 2017, the winning entry can be seen below.

Following the success of previous years, NAMSS is very pleased to announce that the film competition for 2017 - 18 is open! In keeping with the over-arching theme of Democracy, the focus this year is ‘Why is voting important?’.

Prizes

Vouchers will be awarded to the students who produce the winning films with an equal amount being awarded to their college to be spent on enrichment resources or support to benefit its learners*

  • First Prize - The winning group will receive high street vouchers to the value of £1,000 with the value of £1,000 awarded to their college.
  • Second Prize - The runners-up will receive high street vouchers to the value of £750 with the value of £750 awarded to their college.
  • Third Prize – The group in third place will receive high street vouchers to the value of £500 with the value of £500 awarded to their college.

*To claim the full monetary value of their prize, colleges should provide some form of evidence, e.g. receipts for enrichment items/activities. Submitted receipts (or other itemised proof of payment) should be dated between 1st April to 31st August 2018.

Brief

The brief is simple – a short film produced by your learners to reflect a young person’s view on why voting is important; the film should be no more than three minutes long.

This year, we have introduced a declaration form to be completed by each learner involved in the production of the film which should be submitted along with your entry.

Any NAMSS member college is eligible to apply but there can be only one entry submitted per college and the entry must be produced specifically for the NAMSS competition. If a college enters who has an employee sitting on the NAMSS’ Executive Board, that member will declare a conflict of interest and will not form part of any judging panel or process.
